Policy

Coin to Key ("we," "us," "our") runs the website at www.cointokey.com, including the Down Payment Fund, the Housewarming Home Registry, and Find An Agent. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with and how, and how we protect it.

1. Information we collect

From people who create a fund (account holders):

Your first name, last name, and email address.
Your fund name and your event date.
Technical details we create for your fund, such as your Stripe account ID, your gift-page link, your QR code link, a private dashboard link code, and the status of your Stripe setup.
The total amount of gifts your fund has received and the number of gifts. We record amounts only.

Collected directly by Stripe (we do not see or store this): When you set up your fund, you are sent to Stripe, our payment provider, to create your own Stripe account. Stripe collects the personal, identity, and bank account details it requires. This information goes to Stripe and not to us.

From people who give a gift: Gifts are paid on a Stripe-hosted page. Stripe collects payment details such as card number. We never see or store card or bank numbers. We record only the amount and currency of the gift, and we do not record the giver's name.

From people who create a Housewarming Home Registry:

Your first name, last name, email address, and moving/event date.
The items on your registry, including each item's name, price if you provide one, and a link to that item on Crate & Barrel's website. Registries only support items from Crate & Barrel.

Affiliate disclosure: We are a paid affiliate of Crate & Barrel. When a guest buys a registry item through one of these links, we may earn a small commission from Crate & Barrel. This does not change the price the guest pays. We still do not collect any purchase information from Crate & Barrel; any commission is reported to us by the affiliate program in total, not tied to any specific registry, guest, or purchase. Buying an item is entirely between the guest and Crate & Barrel, under Crate & Barrel's own policies.

From people who submit the Find An Agent form: Your name, contact information, and any details you choose to share about what you're looking for (such as area, budget, or timeline), so that we can pass your request to a real estate agent.

From real estate agents who submit the Agent Referral form: The agent's name and contact information, real estate license information, the name of the client they were referred, and details about the resulting transaction, so that we can track referrals and any commission owed to us.

Agent Signup: An agent's name, business and license information, and the billing information needed to collect a referral fee. Billing is handled by Wix payment system or another payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.

Automatically, when you visit our website: Our website host, Wix, may collect standard technical information such as browser type, device, pages viewed, and cookies.

2. How we use information

To set up your fund sign-up, send you to Stripe to create and verify your own Stripe account, and connect that account to your dashboard. Stripe, not us, holds and moves the money in your fund.
To show you your dashboard, QR code, and gift totals (amounts only, we do not process the gifts ourselves).
To build and display your Housewarming Home Registry, and to link guests out to the outside stores you chose.
To pass your Find An Agent request along to a real estate agent, and to follow up with you about it.
To track agent referrals, calculate and collect any resulting referral commission, and administer any $1,000 closing cost credit for clients who close with a referred agent (see our Terms of Service for how that credit works).
To bill and manage paid Agent Membership listings, if offered.
To email you after your event date with information about finding a real estate agent.
To answer support requests, keep our records accurate, and protect the site against misuse or fraud.
To meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising.

3. Who we share information with, and how

Stripe receives the information needed to create your Stripe account. It is sent over a secure, encrypted connection. Stripe's use of your information is described in Stripe's privacy policy at https://stripe.com/privacy.
Wix.com, our website host, stores our site data and sends our emails. It processes that information for us under its own privacy and security terms.
Real estate agents: If you submit the Find An Agent form, we share your name, contact information, and the details you provided with a real estate agent so they can reach out to you. We do not share your Down Payment Fund or Housewarming Registry information with agents unless you ask us to.
Crate & Barrel: We do not share your information with Crate & Barrel. A Housewarming Registry links a guest out to Crate & Barrel's own website using an affiliate tracking link, which lets Crate & Barrel tell our affiliate program that a sale happened so we can be paid a commission; we do not send Crate & Barrel your name or contact information.
Legal and safety: We may disclose information if required by law, a court order, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Business changes: If our business is sold or reorganized, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

We do not share your information with anyone else beyond what's described above.

4. How we protect information

All connections to our website and to Stripe use HTTPS encryption.
Our records are stored in a private database that only the site owner can open.
Secret keys are kept in Wix's protected secrets vault, not on any web page.
Messages from Stripe to our site are verified with a digital signature before we act on them.
Each fund dashboard uses a private link. Keep your link private, as anyone who has it can see your fund's totals.
We do not store bank account, card, or government ID numbers.

No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. How long we keep information

We keep fund records for as long as your fund is active and for a reasonable time afterward for record keeping and legal purposes. You can ask us to delete your information (see Section 7).

6. Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar tools provided by Wix to make the site work and to understand site usage. You can change cookie settings in your browser.

7. Your choices and rights

You may ask us to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop our emails, by contacting us below. California residents have additional rights under California law, including the right to know what we collect and to request deletion. We do not sell personal information.

8. Children

Our service is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
